Achievements and Adventures Ahead
We are proud to share our CEO, Gereltuv Dashdoorov, has officially become a member of the prestigious The Explorer’s Club, an organization supporting exploration and scientific research since 1904.

We thank all our partners, and travelers for making this milestone possible. This inspires us to continue discovering, and sharing Mongolia’s wonders with the world.
HIGHLIGHTS OF 2025 EDUCATIONAL TRIPS
Mongolia Quest is committed to creating the most inspiring travel and educational experiences in the region. To achieve this, we collaborate with national and international experts who lead our citizen-science programs, sharing their knowledge and expertise with travelers. Here are the highlights of 2025.
True Mongolian Quest with Dr. Christopher Atwood 2025
This year, we organized the third exclusive journey to explore Mongolia with Dr. Christopher Atwood from the University of Pennsylvania, one of North America’s foremost Mongolian studies scholars.

Dr. Atwood is the author of several influential works, including Young Mongols and Vigilantes in Inner Mongolia’s Interregnum Decades, The Encyclopedia of Mongolia and the Mongol Empire, and an English translation of The Secret History of the Mongols. His deep understanding of Mongolian history and culture makes him one of the world’s leading authorities on the subject.
Dinosaurs of Mongolia with Dr. Phil Currie 2025
In September 2022, we welcomed back Dr. Phil Currie, a renowned vertebrate paleontologist from the University of Alberta, Canada, to lead the annual Dinosaurs of Mongolia expedition. This scientific adventure continues to blend discovery, education, and exploration, demonstrating how responsible tourism can directly contribute to scientific research.

During the 2025 expedition, the team made an exciting discovery: alongside dinosaur fossils, they uncovered multiple articulated fish skeletons, providing rare evidence of scavenging behavior and offering valuable insight into ancient fish diversity in the Mongolian Gobi Desert.
Lost Dinosaurs of Mongolia 2025
Since 2024, we collaborated with Dr. Phil Bell and Dr. Nic Campione from the University of New England, Australia, to launch the annual Lost Dinosaurs of the Gobi Desert expedition. This program is designed to:

Assist paleontologists in discovering and documenting new dinosaur fossils.
Support global efforts to combat the illegal fossil trade.
Engage participants in authentic scientific research, including geochemical fingerprinting of fossils to trace poached specimens.
We extend our special thanks to the Institute of Paleontology, Mongolian Academy of Science, for making this citizen science expedition possible!
Mongolian Archeological Quest with
Dr. Iderkhangai Tumur-Ochir 2025
This exclusive research trip, guided by renowned Mongolian archaeologist Dr. Iderkhangai Tumur-Ochir, who is a distinguished archaeologist has led and participated in numerous international research projects since 2003. A graduate of the Russian Academy of Sciences with a PhD in 2017, he has made significant contributions to Mongolian archaeology, including the discovery of the ancient Hunnic royal palace at Lunchen and uncovering a monumental inscription of the “Son of Heaven Shanyu,” a world-first find. His expertise in Bronze Age and Hunnic cultures has earned him top honors in Mongolian archaeology, making him a leading figure in the field today.

This year the trip took participants to a newly discovered burial site in Selenge province—one of the most significant archaeological finds in recent years, where it presents a groundbreaking discovery: burials from three distinct historical periods—the Late Bronze Age (Slab Grave Culture), the Xiongnu Empire, and the Xianbei period—all interwoven within the same burial ground. This rare phenomenon provides a unique opportunity to explore the deep cultural connections and genealogical ties between these civilizations.
Mongolian Art Expedition with Dr. Orna Tsultem 2025
This trip is led by Dr. Orna Tsultem, a renowned scholar of Mongolian art and culture. She was born and raised in Mongolia and obtained her PhD degree in Art History from the University of California, Berkeley, where she continues to teach courses in Mongolian and Tibetan arts. She has curated Mongolian art exhibitions internationally in Asia, Europe and the US, with her most recent shows being in Hong Kong and Venice, Italy.

Looking ahead to the future…
All the above educational and expert-led expeditions will continue next year. We look forward to welcoming new participants to experience the spirit of discovery, learning, and adventure that defines Mongolia Quest. See you in 2026!
